Cultivating Love & Compassion

On this page we offer meditations practices to enhance love and compassion within our lives and hearts, starting with self-love.

This is a rare guided metta meditation offered by Thich Nhat Hanh, edited for the free Plum Village. Thich Nhat Hanh, or Thay as he is known by his followers, was a world leader in peace and non-violence who founded the Plum Village community.

Buddhist teacher Pema Chodron has dedicated her life to teaching about loving-kindness and compassion—which begins with developing maitri toward oneself. She is the author of many books on the application of Buddhist principles to modern life.

Geshe Tenzin Zopa is a highly-respected Buddhist master who travels the world as an international teacher for FPMT. This beautiful teaching is on Love and Compassion.

Sharon Salzberg describes the phrases used in this short meditation on loving as offerings, that are expressions of the heart.

This guided meditation on Loving-Kindness goes for 25 minutes. Geshe Thubten Sherab is renowned for his gentle humour, wisdom, accessibility and kindness.

Mingyur Rinpoche experienced anxiety as a child. Meditation helped him overcome his anxieties and help others world-wide to cultivate love and compassion for all beings.

Venerable Sangye Khadro is a well-loved meditation teacher, having authored the hugely successful How to Meditate book, which is in its 17th print run.
