The Fifteen Days of Miracles—from the first day of the Tibetan new year (Losar, February 12) until the fifteenth—commemorate the special time when Guru Shakyamuni Buddha showed miraculous powers in order to subdue six tirthikas, or non-Buddhist teachers, who lacked faith in him, and to inspire more faith in his followers. It culminates on the full moon, the fifteenth day of the lunar calendar, a particularly auspicious day where the merits of positive activities are multiplied.(February 27). Losar is also Lama Yeshe Day (see below).

(Tibetan: ལོ་གསར་, Wylie: lo-gsar; “New Year”)
Few people will have been sorry to see the end of 2020 – the close of the tumultuous Year of the Mouse is fast approaching. Feb.12 marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox, and the ox qualities of hard work, positivity and honesty that will be manifested in all of us in the coming 12 months.
